Birth Doula

As a doula, my goal is to help women have the birth they want to have. Your birth is your story, and I desire to help you write it in such a way that you approach your birth with expectant joy and take on labor with peaceful strength. And as you do, I will strive to provide you with physical and emotional support that allows you to triumph through labor and move with grace into your postpartum journey.

Prenatal Visits:

During our prenatal visits, we will take the time to educate and empower you and your partner so that together you can make informed decisions about your care, enabling you to confidently transition through pregnancy, labor and birth. It will also be a time for us to get to get familiar with one another and learn/establish what is important to you and your growing family. We will work to address any potential concerns and by doing so, replace fear you might have with peace and confidence. And while I believe that as your doula I can address your unique needs and preferences throughout your birth journey, I also believe there is no substitute for the loving support a partner can provide. For that reason, our time at your prenatal visits will include equipping your partner to be poised to support you well and giving them the tools to also come into your birth prepared and encouraged. Together you’ll learn labor positions, pushing positions, comfort measures, and more to prepare you for your big day.

Your Big Day:

Congratulations! Your birth-day has arrived!

We will be in communication once your labor begins and I will join you as soon as you’re wanting my support, which is usually at the end of early labor and leading in active labor. I will come to your home before you leave for the hospital or birth center (when applicable) or meet you at your birth place, whatever your preference is. I will remain with you through the rest of your labor, supporting you physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Whether you need help addressing physical discomfort, words of encouragement, reassurance, or simply the warm presence of another woman and mother - I am there to help you make your birth experience as comfortable, peaceful and joyful as possible.

While doulas are sometimes labeled as advocates, my role is not to speak for you or act on your behalf. You and your partner are your best advocates, not anyone else! I will be there to assist you, support you, and provide any evidence-based information that could be helpful to you in making a decision about your care. But your birth is about you, your partner, your baby, and your wishes. As your doula, I will support you, your partner, your baby, and your wishes.

I will remain with you for roughly two hours following the birth of your precious little one, once I know all of your needs have been addressed and you’re ready to rest with your baby. I can provide breastfeeding support, as needed, and will meet any other practical needs you have to ensure your transition into your first day with your child is a positive one.

Post-Partum Visits:

Within 1-2 weeks of your birth, I will come to your home to check in and love on you and your baby. We will discuss your birth, as much or as little as you’d like, and address any questions you may have it. I can also provide you with breastfeeding support and referrals to local resources so that you have a positive transition into life with your new, precious baby.

Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.
